San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park is proud to partner with Agents of Discovery to find new and creative ways to engage visitors of all ages! Since 2017, Agents of Discovery has offered exciting GPS-based activities for new and returning park visitors at Hyde Street Pier, the Maritime Museum, and Aquatic Park Cove. We appreciate the user-friendliness of the Mission Maker and the ability to create and rework challenges to suit our park’s needs. It certainly doesn’t hurt that the Agents of Discovery support team is so thorough and knowledgeable!
Our Missions allow Agents to dive into the fascinating histories of the San Francisco waterfront, learn about the artists behind the one-of-a-kind murals of the Maritime Museum (psst…it used to have a different name!), and get to know the ins and outs of our historic steam and sailing ships. You can take our park’s stories into your own hands when you explore San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park with the Agents of Discovery app!
On the app, you’ll find “Missions” to play that teach you about different locations. The National Park Service currently has 3 fun Missions for users to explore:

Missions
Hyde Street Pier
At this Mission site, you can stand near the stern of Balclutha and face west to see the Golden Gate Bridge through the fog and feel the brisk, salty air off the Pacific Ocean. Need to take a breather? Have a seat on the Eureka and imagine traveling across the Bay in the time before the bridges were built.
To play this game, you will first have to pay the park admission fee. Please proceed to the fee booth to get tickets for your family, and then you can start playing!
San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park
Experience the sights, sounds, smells, and stories of Pacific Coast maritime history as you explore the pier, park, Visitor Center exhibits, and Maritime Museum!

Aquatic Park
This Mission takes players through the free outdoor area. While taking a break from exploring the site with Agents of Discovery, you can walk along the shore, or even have a picnic as you take in the views of Alcatraz, Angel Island, Aquatic Park Cove, and the San Francisco Bay!
