Did you know that Smokey is turning 80 this year? That’s right, 80 years of teaching people how they can prevent human-caused wildfires. Explore Smokey’s cabin with the Smokey Bear’s 80th Birthday Mission.

To get started, download Agents of Discovery in the App Store or Play Store. The Mission is totally FREE, and it’s available in both English and Spanish.

To play in Spanish, go to ‘Settings’ in the app and select ‘Spanish’ from the Language dropdown menu. Then, search “80 Cumpleaños del oso Smokey” under ‘Missions’ and get started! Make sure to log in or create an account if you want your progress and rewards to be saved.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR TEACHERS

  1. Download the FREE Agents of Discovery App from the App Store or Google Play. (If your school whitelists apps, ensure that the Agents of Discovery app is whitelisted.)
  2. Open the app, click on “Missions”, and select the Smokey Bear Mission corresponding to your students’ Grade:
    • “Smokey Bear’s 80th Birthday (Grades 4-8)”
    • “Smokey Bear’s 80th Birthday (K-3)” or
  3. Invite your students to tap on the Challenge icons and solve each Challenge.
  4. Have fun!

Smokey Bear 3.0

Play the Smokey Bear Mission

Get ready, Agents! It’s wildfire season again! Smokey has returned in the new Smokey Bear 3.0 Mission, and he needs your help to prevent wildfires. To play, you will need to use your detective skills. If you want to win prizes, check out where you can play Smokey Bear 3.0.

To get started, download Agents of Discovery in the App Store or Play Store. The Mission is totally FREE, and this year it’s available in both English and Spanish.

If there are no locations near you, you can also search for the “Smokey Bear 3.0 – Southern California” Mission at home to play and earn digital rewards!

To play in Spanish, go to ‘Settings’ in the app and select ‘Spanish’ from the Language dropdown menu. Restart the app. Then, search “El Oso Smokey 3.0” under ‘Missions’ and get started! Make sure to log in or create an account if you want your progress and rewards to be saved.

  3. Open the app, click on “Missions”, and select the Smokey Bear Mission corresponding to your students’ Grade:– “Smokey Bear 2.0 (K-3)” or- “Smokey Bear 2.0 (Grades 4-8)”If your school did not receive these cards, you can print your own. (If you don’t have access to a color printer, you can also scan the images off your computer screen.)
  4. Invite your students to tap on the Challenge icons and scan the Smokey Bear cards to unlock and solve each Challenge.

Smokey Bear 75th Birthday Mission

Players

Play the not-so-secret, secret Smokey Bear Mission to learn about wildfire prevention in a fun, engaging way. You could also win cool prizes! It’s as easy as 1,2,3…

  1. Download the FREE Agents of Discovery game to your iOS or Android mobile device and click on “Missions”
  2. Open the Smokey Bear 75th Birthday Mission in your state (you may need to use the “search” bar to find your state’s “Smokey Bear 75th Birthday” Mission).
  3. Tap on the Challenge icons and scan these images of Smokey to unlock the Challenges …have fun!!

National Forests

All you need to do to make it possible for your visitors to play your Smokey Bear Mission is:

 

  1. Ensure your on-site staff is knowledgeable about the Smokey Bear 75th Birthday Mission and that they are, if necessary, able to assist visitors with downloading the Mission via App Store or Google Play.
  2. Print and post this promotional “how-to” poster in high-visibility areas.
  3. Print the 10 Smokey Bear images on the best color printer you have and post them in interesting places around your site. These are being mailed to every National Forest and Grassland early in 2020. If you wish, you can use these instead of printing out your own.
  4. Promote your Smokey Bear Mission on your social media accounts and website to help encourage your players to learn about wildfire safety in a fun and innovative way!

Agents of Discovery will provide biweekly user updates to track which of the 50 participating states is engaging the largest number of players. The eastern and western states with the highest user engagement between March 1st– June 1st will win special prizes.
