Lakewood Parks and Recreation is excited to offer a new safe and interactive way to experience our local parks. When so many places were closed last year, our parks were open for business and we saw how important they are to our residents and guests. Agents of Discovery allows everyone to safely use our parks and get out and play! The City is celebrating our 25th anniversary this year and to celebrate we will be offering special Agents of Discovery Missions at our Farmers Market and our anniversary celebration. Special missions will also occur at some of our lesser known park sites so we can achieve our goal of providing low cost recreation activities to all of our Lakewood Youth including those living in hard to reach and underserved areas.

The City of Lakewood is known for its beautiful parks and lakes, with many visitors coming from Seattle to enjoy the local parks and amenities for a weekend getaway. With an array of recreational activities for youth and senior citizens, the City of Lakewood encourages community collectiveness by creating a positive neighbourhood experience to improve the quality of life for their community. They currently have 2 fun Missions that users can explore!

Fort Steilacoom Park Adventure Mission

Throughout the Fort Steilacoom Park Adventure Mission, users will learn about our rich indigenous and farming history, old growth forests and prairie lands, the city’s 25th anniversary and other special events held at this site. Between Missions, families can explore the expansive trail system, watch baseball, softball and soccer games or hobbyists flying their RC planes, or enjoy our adventure playground, orienteering course or off-leash Dog Park, and much more.

Springbrook Park Exploration Mission

During the Springbrook Park Exploration Mission, users will discover areas of this park that includes an amazing playground, basketball court, soccer field, a community garden, picnic shelters, and a pedestrian bridge crossing over Clover Creek. More park improvements will be coming soon!
