Mission of the Month: Lee’s Summit Parks & Recreation

“Agents of Discovery has been an extremely beneficial tool for us at Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation (LSPR). AoD’s Mission Maker is a very user-friendly platform, allowing us to implement new Missions with ease. The mobile app is easily understood and operated as well, making the end product accessible to everyone. With our Missions, we have been able to drive visitation to multiple city parks as well as enhance special events we put on throughout the year. With the ability to customize the players’ experience to reflect our department, LSPR has been able to convey specific information directly to the player. Agents of Discovery was implemented by the “Did You Know” team at Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation, the team’s focus is to create advocates for the park and recreation system by engaging, informing, and inspiring. AoD has given us a new and exciting way to engage, inform and inspire Lees Summit patrons.”

Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation has made quite a name for their Missions through unique and engaging promotion. Their field agent, Sam the Squatch, makes regular appearances at their Mission locations helping their programming really come to life! Sam is the mascot for the Parks & Recreation department, and makes fun promotion for many of their programs. Check out their YouTube channel to see more videos of Sam.

Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation currently has two Missions available. The first Mission is at Harris Park. This Mission is all about the park, identifying the trees that grow there, and featuring amenities like the exercise equipment.

The other Mission that is currently available is the Lea McKeighan North Mission. This Mission features amenities that the park offers, like the skatepark and the splash pad. It also discusses the community aspects that a park can provide.

Lee’s Summit updates their Missions regularly. Make sure to bookmark their website to see what Missions are currently available.

Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation also hosts the “Did You Know” program. The goal of the program is to inform, engage and inspire the community about the benefits of parks and recreation. Community members then become advocates for taking care of the green spaces in the city.

Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation was recently featured in an Agent Briefing livestream by Mission Conservation. Check it out here.
