Talk to Your Customers!

Finally, Spring is coming! Things are getting warmer, the grass is getting greener, and if you’re looking outside the window at work and seeing families starting to come out of their cozy homes and into the great outdoors, now is one of the best times in the year to talk to your customers!
This blog is all about the amazing things you can accomplish for your team and Missions by directly connecting with your guests and seeing first hand how an interactive Mission improves their visit and their sentimental connection to your public spaces! If you’re not sure how guests are actually finding the experience of playing your Missions, it can be easy to lose sight of the value of providing such an accessible and interactive form of interpretation at your park.
Looking at the pictures below should already start to give you a sense of just how different it is between looking at numbers in the Mission Maker and seeing smiles on your visitors’ faces.
Here are some examples of numbers …

… And Here are some examples of smiles!*

*Please note that we can only do the above example so much justice in our written blog. To see significantly better examples of the guest experience at play, check out the What Does Jay Say video!
I don’t know about you, but I personally gleaned way more info out of that second set of images! Your stats are definitely helpful to cross-reference with your promotional habits to see how your efforts are paying off, but to really see the value of your Missions and how they make your guests feel, there is no substitute for actually seeing them enjoy themselves.
In last month’s blog, we provided some awesome strategies you can follow to help set your guests up on your Missions and give them peace of mind while exploring and navigating. If you followed that advice and placed your first Challenge close to your front desk, you’ve set yourself up with an amazing opportunity to collect testimonials from your players! Ask if you can accompany them as they make comments and observations, and make sure that you’re paying particular attention to when they’re most engaged and having fun.
If they have a lot of good things to say, you’ve ended up with some free marketing – and of course, if they have constructive comments, you can implement those privately next time you’re fine tuning your Challenges and content.
It will also make you look really good in your promotional pieces and marketing content if you can get some pictures with guests interacting with your signage like in the examples below:

Something else you’ve likely seen in our past blogs would be the mention of limited-time Event Missions, which are perfect for conducting larger user testing groups.
Consider making an event Mission in which players or visiting schools / classes on a field trip can connect directly with your team members, like in these examples:
