Making a Mission
Once you have purchased a package for your organization, you’ll become a Mission Maker! That means you’ll be able to transform your stories and content into interactive augmented reality (AR) experiences.
Here’s How it Works
1. Build a Mission in the language(s) of your choice
2. Instantly publish your Mission to the Google Play and App Store
3. Your players can now access your Mission for free
Mission Types
You can create two types of Missions:
- Play-on-Site – Players experience your Mission on-site using GPS or QR codes
- Play-from-Anywhere – Players experience your Mission from anywhere by tapping on the Challenges
What Goes Into A Mission?
Challenges
Challenges are the games and activities that make up a Mission. It’s easy to make your own Challenges from scratch, or pick Challenges from our Challenge Library.
You are in full control of each Challenge.
With many Challenge types to choose from, it’s easy to incorporate text, images, sounds, and AR into your Mission!
Image Checklist
Players pick the best answers between image-based choices.
AR Sorter
Players sort augmented reality objects into categories by moving them into the appropriate container.
Sound Matcher
Players try to match the correct image
with the correct sound effect.
Text 50/50
Players pick the best answer between two text-based choices. Multiple questions allowed per Challenge.
Challenge Library
You’ll find Challenges on sports, art, culture, history, nature, science, and more! Our seasonal collection makes it easy to create Missions for holidays and special events.
Themed Missions (PAM’s Picks)
PAM’s Picks are pre-made Missions that are easy to publish. There are new Challenges for many occassions.
Augmented Reality Library
Access our huge collection of AR objects to create augmented reality experiences for your players. Our 3D library has thousands of options for you to choose from including: cultural, natural, sports, seasonal items, and so much more.

Field Agents
Players are guided through Missions by a Field Agent or Avatar. The Field Agent introduces players to the Mission, and provides helpful tips along the way. Avatars are now available in 3D.
There are many to choose from. Click here to view the list.
Maps
Your map helps players navigate your Mission. If you want to use Google Maps, you’ll select your location, and your map will be automatically created through Google satellite imagery. Then you’ll have to define your play area, which will show up for players.
You also have options to upload a custom map, or to have our team create one for you. (See our Pricing page for details.)
Analytics
You can view Mission statistics to assess usage and engagement.
All packages include these analytics:

- Users over time
- Total distance traveled
- Total time played
Silver and Gold packages also include these analytics:

- Success rate of Challenges
- Average time played per Challenge
- Player Analytics
Open source images & sounds
Upload your own media, or easily add open source digital images and sounds to your Challenges using our Creative Commons integration.
Can I change my Mission after it has been published?
Yes and we recommend you change your Mission to support the season, programs and special events happening at the site. That way there’s always something new for players to experience.
It’s easy to change your Missions by using the content available in the libraries.

What if I don't have time to make a Mission?
This is one we hear a lot. We know you’re looking for quality programming at your site, and it can take time to create something amazing. But fear not! We’re here to help.
Our Silver and Gold packages include 1-2 free custom-built Missions, created by our Education Specialists.
