A Safe, New Approach to Visitor Engagement

Providing safe educational programming to visitors during the COVID-19 pandemic
We understand that you may have had to close your visitor center or send staff home due to health concerns regarding COVID-19, even as visitors continue to come to your location. This is a very uncertain time for the global community, and Agents of Discovery is ready and willing to work with you as needed.
We can help you to provide ongoing educational programming to members of your community who are taking measures to safely spend time in nature during the COVID-19 pandemic. As you work to navigate this new and unknown landscape, our priority is to enable you to make it easy for visitors to experience your site in a safe and informative way.
Agents of Discovery will enable you to:
1) Provide on-site information and interpretation for visitors who are safely practicing social distancing outdoors
Practicing safe social distancing does not necessarily mean that people shouldn’t go outside – just that it is important they engage in proper health and safety practices when they do. Visitors can explore the park and play your Mission without worrying about being in close proximity to others or touching anything but their own mobile device.
Getting outside in nature is a great way for visitors to de-stress and maintain their mental and physical health, provided that they are in an area where this is permitted by local authorities. Take a look at the National Recreation and Park Association’s statement on using parks and open spaces while maintaining social distancing for more information.
Agents of Discovery enables you to communicate and interact with your visitors and ensure that they are receiving information where and when they need it.
2) Provide instant modifications to your programming while working remotely
You can easily and instantly modify your Mission from your at-home computer. This flexibility enables you to provide relevant, up-to-date health and safety information to anyone visiting your location, and to create and implement new programming while practicing self-isolation.
3) Share information with visitors about health and safety practices
A health and safety collection featuring Challenges related to COVID-19 is now live in the Challenge Library, which is a part of our Mission Maker. These pre-made Challenges, based on information from the WHO website, will be able to be dropped into any Mission. Our goal is to provide you with up-to-date safety Challenges you can easily publish into your Mission.
If you’re capable and you have the time and access, the great outdoors offers a needed escape into health and normalcy. Getting outside — to a park or trail, a beach or bike path — represents a way to stay clear of crowds while exercising your immune system and warding off depression that might result from imposed isolation at home.
To avoid crowds and close proximity with strangers, one answer is to venture to remote parks and open space… The farther you go, the fewer the people you see.
