Mission Rewards

Summer is halfway through, and that means people are flocking like crazy to your public spaces and checking out your Missions! Now it’s time to think about how you’re going to incentivize guests to play your amazing Missions so we’re going to look at…

Mission Rewards

At the end of every good adventure is a treasure trove of lessons learned – but the best adventures also have literal treasure at the end! Take a look around your visitor’s center and see if there’s any cool gadgets or merchandise you can hand out as prizes for completing your Mission.

Your guests will have something cool to work towards and they’ll be able to head home with a token of the connections they made between their surroundings and the natural or human history of your public space, whether it’s a physical reward or a digital badge.

Some traditional rewards we’ve seen over the years include:

Button

Badge

Lanyard

Water Bottle

Stickers

Wristband

If nothing seems available or comes to mind immediately, don’t worry! These items are all examples of things you can find on our Swag Store, by visiting the link underneath the Promote section at the top of any page on our website.

Each item comes with multiple options for colors and you can place any logo or graphic front and center on the item! Reach out to your CS team if you would like to create a badge in any of the styles below; you can then order a patch or button with this design depending on what you’re looking for.

Can I Implement my Agents of Discovery Missions into a bigger Rewards Campaign or Junior Ranger Program?

Absolutely! Many of our partners like California State Parks, offer a Junior Ranger badge for completing play at home or play at the park Missions.

You can then direct your guests to decode the hieroglyphics by clicking on a link to your website. (This will work as long as your players are in an area where they have access to the Internet.)

Another example comes from our partners at Gold Coast in Australia, who have tied their AoD Missions into the activity list in their “Nature Play Passport”. This passport contains all sorts of exploration-based adventures available at several locations throughout Brisbane and Gold Coast to connect their players to their outdoor spaces.

What if I don’t have a Visitor Center or similar means for giving out prizes?

Try taking a page out of Houston Parks Board’s book, and use our brand new URL Button in your Rewards Message to have your guests reach out via email or survey! After completing the Missions in the example below, guests can fill out a quick survey to receive a physical prize to their home address.

If guests can’t talk to you on site, a public facing email is the best way for them to connect with your team. Guests can submit screenshots of their completed Missions, or you could ask them to do something a bit more spontaneous like recite a passcode (as long as you make sure to provide the passcode in your Mission reward message).

Keep in mind that there are two kinds of screenshots that will work; guests can either send a screenshot of the Rewards Message after they’ve completed the last Challenge, or they can send a screenshot of the Mission Map with all Challenges showing as completed in the top right corner (for example, in a Mission with 10 Challenges, the counter will show 10/10 when completed).

Players who have created profiles can also keep track of all their rewards and digital badges by tapping on “Profile” at the Agents of Discovery title screen, and checking the Mission Progress in their Account Details!

Be sure to keep your prizes stocked so guests aren’t feeling let down at the end of the adventure! As long as your prizes are stocked and your staff are helpful, your players should be very happy!
