Mission of the Month: Eaton Canyon, LA County Parks

“Agents of Discovery has provided a free, fun, and educational activity for our visitors. It has helped serve so many of our first time visitors by teaching them about our park and learning about our local wildlife, but it has also served our regular park visitors by giving them a different experience at our park.”

When Eaton Canyon started using Agents of Discovery several years ago, their Missions focused on teaching visitors about the canyon and what they could find there. As they expanded their use of the Agents platform, their goal with their Missions has switched to teaching visitors about how they can help protect this beautiful park they love.

The name of the new Mission is “Protect the Canyon.” The Mission is all about what visitors can do to minimize their impact. Some Challenges focus on “Leave no Trace,” making sure visitors pick up their trash, and identifying local and invasive species. Nature Center employees are very happy with the impact this Mission has had on visitors and helping them make sustainable choices. Visitors who help maintain the park ensure it will be available for future generations to enjoy!

The Eaton Canyon Nature Center has new displays and educational content to share with visitors for free. They also have activities and events available to visitors – check out their upcoming events and programs here. In addition to playing the Mission, make sure you visit the Nature Center on your next trip to the park!
