Mission of the Month: Fraser Coast Regional Council

Fraser Coast Regional Council launched its first ever Mission in December 2023 at the Hervey Bay Botanic Garden. As staff and resources are limited for in-person programming, Agents of Discovery is an innovative way to reach residents and tourists and help them to connect to the natural environment. The Mission was created to run during school holidays to engage families in outdoor education. Moving forward, Missions will be hosted at different sites around the Fraser Coast Region to introduce the community to a variety of native habitats, flora, and fauna.
The December launch at the Hervey Bay Botanic Garden explored new details within the garden. Mobile service at the Botanic Garden is great, so downloading the Play On Site Mission worked very smoothly. The Mission features Challenges about plants and animals to encourage players to explore the natural world inside the garden. A combination of text, photo, and AR Challenges keeps players engaged in the Mission and accommodates a variety of learning styles.
Players looking for adventure can join Fraser Coast’s own Agent Kangaroo to connect with the environment and uncover the wonders of the natural world.
