Mission of the Month: City of Malibu
“The City of Malibu strives to provide impactful and influential programs at all of our parks, and we are excited to engage park visitors in a new way with Agents of Discovery. Agents of Discovery has already surpassed our expectations regarding the number of participating park patrons. As we continue to enhance our outreach efforts, we look forward to engaging even more of the public!”
The City of Malibu is relatively new to the Agents of Discovery platform, but they are eager to make fun interactive learning experiences for their visitors. The City currently has one Mission published, but it has been very well received by community members.
The City of Malibu’s “Explore Legacy Park” Mission focuses on nature discovery, highlighting the City’s sustainable park management. One Challenge teaches participants about using owl boxes and raptor poles to reduce rodent numbers instead of using rodenticides. The City also uses Agents of Discovery to inform park patrons about how the park is designed to clean local runoff before it reaches the Malibu Lagoon and the ocean. Agents of Discovery has been a great tool for outreach and education!
